Come with Pat as she fulfills her English Composition II assignment to write a 7-10 page research paper on a topic related to literature. The first module, “Getting from Topic to Thesis,” defines for you what a thesis is and provides help in formulating a working thesis. Module II, “Visiting the Library,” takes you to the Sidney Silverman Library at BCC with Pat to learn to use the library’s resources, especially those that relate to the study of literature. After doing her library research, Pat revises her working thesis, making it more specific. In Module IV, “Taking Notes,” Pat shows you how she works with her sources, taking notes and preparing to write her first draft. In Module V, “Creating a Works Cited Page,” and VI, “Avoiding Plagiarism and Using Quotations,” you will accompany Pat as she addresses issues of incorporating sources in the correct MLA format. Next, in Module VII, “Writing the First Draft,” join Pat in writing her first draft and then, in Module VIII “Making Revisions, engage with Pat in the revision process that leads to the final paper. Pat shares her completed paper as a model.
