Navigating the Research Paper Project

 

 

What do I need on my computer?

You will need the following plug-ins to view the Research Paper Project on your computer. You can download these free from the web. If you do not have these plug-ins installed on your computer click the link below:

  1. Real Player
  2. Adobe Reader
  3. Flash Player
  4. PowerPoint Viewer (if you do not have MS PowerPoint application)
  5. Word Viewer (if you do not have MS Word application)

 

How is the project organized?

The Research Paper project has eight separate modules with additional links:

I.                        Getting From Topic to Thesis

III.                   Revising the Thesis  

IV.                    Taking Notes  

V.                      Creating a Works Cited Page   

VI.                    Avoiding Plagiarism and Using Quotations   

VII.                 Writing the First Draft  

VIII.               Making Revisions  

 

All these modules are listed on the Homepage. The project can also be viewed as a table of content or as an overview map by clicking these options from the top menu. The eight modules are created in MS PowerPoint. Some of the modules have links to additional websites, real videos and flash-based simulations.

 

How do I view a module?

From the Homepage click Research Paper project and then click the module title. This will prompt you “Do you want to open or save this file?” with three options “Open, Save or Cancel.” Click “Open” to display the PowerPoint presentation on the computer screen.

 

Now, click on the slide itself to go to next slide. If you click on a linked MS Word or Adobe PDF file, it will again prompt you “Do you want to open or save this file?” with three options “Open, Save or Cancel”. Again, click “Open” to view MS Word or Acrobat PDF file.

 

To go back to the PowerPoint presentation, click the browser “Back” button. It will again prompt you “Do you want to open or save this file?” with three options “Open, Save or Cancel.” Again,  click “Open” to go back to the PowerPoint presentation.
