Concert Aids Philippine Typhoon Victims

Cecile Azarcon has spent 35 years in the Philippine music industry.

PARAMUS, N.J. – Bergen Community College offers relief to Typhoon Haiyan victims through “An Evening of Original Philippine Music” – featuring legendary Filipino composer Cecile Azarcon – Saturday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the College’s Anna Maria Ciccone Theatre, 400 Paramus Road, Paramus.

In addition to Azarcon, the concert will include performances by the award-winning all-Filipino band Sounds of Manila led by Bergen professor Susanna Lansangan; renowned musical director and arranger Lorrie Ilustre; guitarist Carlo Tampac; the SLRS Filipino Choir; and students from the school’s PASALUBONG and Filipino-American Club.

Tickets are $30, with discounts offered to senior citizens, Bergen faculty, staff and students. Individuals can purchase tickets by calling (201) 447-7428 or visiting In partnership with Habitat for Humanity, a portion of all ticket proceeds – along with all funds raised during and after the concert – will benefit typhoon victims.

Bergen Community College ( based in Paramus is a public two-year coeducational college, enrolling nearly 17,000 students at locations in Paramus, the Philip J. Ciarco Jr. Learning Center in Hackensack and Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands in Lyndhurst. The College offers associate degree, certificate and continuing education programs in a variety of fields.
