Bergen Earns National Honors for Giving Back

PARAMUS, N.J. – With 634 students completing 35,000 hours of community service last year, Bergen Community College has made the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for the seventh consecutive time. The list recognizes institutions that have incorporated service learning programs into their curricula and campus environment. Bergen represents one of only three New Jersey community colleges on the 2014 list.

Bergen President Signs Anti-Hunger Pledge at U.N.

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Joining officials from 55 universities such as Cornell, Michigan State and Tufts, Bergen Community College President B. Kaye Walter, Ph.D., has signed the “Presidents’ Commitment to Food and Nutrition Security” pledge initiated by Auburn University – making Bergen the only two-year institution to do so. President Walter signed the agreement alongside her peers at a Dec. 9 event at the United Nations. The pledge creates a blueprint defining higher education’s role in combatting hunger.

Needy Net Knitters’ Scarves on “Giving Tuesday”

PARAMUS, N.J. – As part of the nationwide “Giving Tuesday” initiative Dec. 2, volunteer knitters organized by the Bergen Community College Division of Continuing Education and the Bergen County Technical Schools gave the homeless the gift of warmth – approximately 50 scarves, blankets and hats.

Symphony Makes Holidays Merry and Bright at Bergen

PARAMUS, N.J. – Bergen Sinfonia will return to its home venue – the Bergen Community College Anna Maria Ciccone Theatre – for its annual holiday concert Friday, Dec. 19 at the College’s main campus, 400 Paramus Road.

College Board Adds Interim County Superintendent
