Faculty Shine at Summer Music Fest

PARAMUS, N.J. – Trading in grade books for guitars, Bergen Community College faculty members Dan Sheehan, Andy Krikun and Sony Tiwari starred at the school’s “Summer Music Festival” Aug. 10. In addition to the professors’ performance, the all-day event featured Bergen students, members of the Waldwick School of Rock and sets by R&B artists such as Alyson Williams and Blue Magic.

First Lady Honors “NJ Hero” for Bergen Garden

PARAMUS, N.J. – How does Bergen Community College’s garden grow? With the help of Eric Fuchs-Stengel, the latest “New Jersey Heroes” inductee. The organization, led by first lady Mary Pat Christie, visited Bergen’s main campus July 29 to recognize Fuchs-Stengel’s work with the Mahwah Environmental Volunteers Organization (MEVO), a sustainability collaborative he founded. Across Bergen County, Fuchs-Stengel and a cast of volunteers lead recycling and sustainable farming initiatives, which included the establishment of a vegetable garden and beehive colony at the College. Kaye Walter, Ph.D., Bergen County Executive Kathleen Donovan, volunteer Ryan Martens, Mrs. Christie and Fuchs-Stengel discussed the origins of MEVO and even plucked beets at the July 29 event. Mrs. Christie chairs NJ Heroes, a private, non-partisan, non-profit organization founded in 2010 to celebrate the contributions of unsung community leaders.

Marquee R&B Talent at College Music Fest

PARAMUS, N.J. – From Billboard to Bergen Community College, a collection of chart-topping R&B artists will headline the school’s first-ever “Summer Music Festival.” The free event open to the public featuring live music, gourmet food trucks and vendors will take place Sunday, Aug. 10 from noon to 8 p.m. in parking lot C at the College’s main campus, 400 Paramus Road, Paramus.

Two Join Bergen Board of Trustees
