ORDER OF OPERATIONS

Order of operations are a set of procedures to evaluate a problem. The rules are as follows:

  • First, calculate what is inside braces {}, brackets [], and/or parantheses ().
  • Second, evaluate any exponential expressions.
  • Third, perform multiplication and division from left to right.
  • Fourth, performaddition and subtraction from left to right.
