Student Technology Consultant Program

The Student Technology Consultant (STC) program recruits computer-literate Bergen Community Collegestudents to support the general purpose labs, the Information Commons, certain dedicated specialized computer labs, and the Free Time labs.Additional assignmentsinclude the Library PC Help Desk and the OIT Help Desk

The STCs visit each lab daily to ensure the lab’s computers are functioning properly; minor problems are solved on the spot while significant defects are reported to the Help Desk for resolution. The STC program usually has members who have a high level of technical ability and they often assist the User Support Technicians in maintaining the labs.

The STCs are trained in customer service since supervising the Free Time Labs is their responsibility. Their job is to assist students having difficulty completing computer-based assignments. The STCs understand their role of guiding the student toward a solution so the student becomes self-sufficient.

Candidates for the STC position should have enrolled in and completed successfully the course, “Introduction to Information Technology”, INF-101 or its equivalent.

The Academic Lab Manager, Dan Knorowski, supervises the STCs.
