What is Quality Assurance (QA)?

The corporation wide effort to assure that a product possesses the quality required for its performance is called Quality Assurance (QA).It includes setting the standard for the products quality and designing and implementing all the activities that contribute to the proper manufacture, performance and servicing of the product. The role of QA is every more important in our very competitive world.

QA has been a critical component of US business for many years: All employees working in the FDA Regulated Industries which comprise 25% of the US Economy are required by the FDA to be trained in methods of implementing Quality Assurance. It is a violation for the company to allow an employee to function in a position if he has not received the required QA training.
QA is a corporation wide commitment and every employee: secretaries, project managers, maintenance staff, manufacturing personnel, the shipping and receiving employees, technicians, marketing and sales, researchers and senior level administrators, are critical in the planning, development and implementation of the methods and systems to achieve quality products. This program provides intensive and practical training in implementation and maintenance of Quality Standards in the regulated industries and provides training in the basic technical skills required for 80% of the most common technician level positions**. The methods of ensuring Quality of a Product are similar in all the regulated industries and indeed the QA skills you learn in this program are the general skills being implemented in most US industries to ensure product quality and are transferable to many positions outside the Regulated Industries.
QA programs have long been available at the graduate level, but BCC is the first Community College to offer a Bioscience QA Certificate Program. This program will benefit current employees in the regulated industries who wish to obtain comprehensive training in order to enhance their competitiveness. It will prepare those with technical backgrounds who wish to enter the regulated industries with the skills required and through the internship program with entry into employment. It will prepare those with related technical skills such as computer technicians with sufficient background to qualify for positions in the regulated industries. It will prepare high school students wishing to work in bioscience manufacturing and or maintenance with the skills to operate in a regulated environment.

Completion of a Certificate of QA will assure a prospective employer that you have the skills to operate in a regulated environment and most importantly that you are an individual who can operate effectively in a highly regulated environment.BCC offers many skill set courses that you may take to enhance your Certificate.
