Element K - Just-in-Time Training

Element K is an interactive training resource available 24/7 to faculty and staff who ask for an account. Utilizing text, sound, graphics and animation, Element K courses can deliver just-in-time training to anyone with an account who has an Internet connected computer with a sound card.

BergenCommunity College and CIT are thrilled to be able to provide a limited number of Element K accounts for staff and faculty. Access will be on a timed 3-4 month basis.

What Kind of Courses are Available?

We have obtained a license for limited use of Element K’s Office Productivity Package. This includes courses on how to use the Microsoft Windows XP and the new Vista operating system, Access, Excel, FrontPage, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.There is also a course on using Adobe Acrobat Professional.

All accounts will have the most popular recommended courses preloaded. In addition to these self-paced courses. Element K offers online reference books and some instructor led versions of these courses. These courses also have built in assessment tools that allow you to see how well you are learning and what specific concepts you still need to brush up on. These assessments will not be viewed by anyone other than YOU the account holder.

Why should I take advantage of Element K just-in-time training?

Element K online courses are:

  • accessible from your desk, at home, or in a computer lab
  • more flexible than scheduled face-to-face training
  • easy to use, with online resources you can access as often as you need within the timeframe of your subscription
  • professionally done, with text sound, graphics and animation designed to help you learn

How can I apply for an account?

Please click here to access our web form to apply for an Element K account.

Once the form has been filled out you will receive an automatically generated email confirming your application. After verificationfrom your supervisor or department head, and assuming there are still accounts available, you will be emailed an Access Key Code (with specific instructions) that will ONLY be good one time. This code will allow you to register with Element K. ONLY YOU will have your username and password. No one else at BergenCommunity College will have ready access to your account.

Staff supervisors are being asked to allow their employees to take training time during the work week and use C-308 if necessary. Staff supervisors will be asked to reply to an email asking for approval when a staff member applies for an account.

What support will be available to me?

Element K provides direct technical support. On the Quick Reference Guide (click herefor an Adobe Acrobat pdf version) you will see mention of email, live chat and phone support if you have problems with your account.
