ALCOHOL ABUSE

You may have a drinking problem if you….

  • Lie to friends and family about how much alcohol you use
  • Drink alone most of the time. (and, Do you start and end your day with a drink?)
  • Need alcohol to “have fun”. (Is alcohol central to your social life?)
  • Have more than 2 alcoholic drinks each day
  • Have frequent hangovers. (Do you get drunk on a regular basis?)
  • Feel run-down, depressed
  • Have blackouts and do not remember what you did when you were drinking
  • Have problems at school, work, home. (Do others complain about your moods or anger?)
  • Have trouble with the law for alcohol related incidents
  • Hide alcohol for future use.
  • Experienced changes in relationships. (Are most of your new friends drinking buddies?)
  • Miss school or work, especially on Mondays.
  • Have trouble stopping or limiting alcohol use.
  • Cope with feelings (stress, anger, disappointment) by drinking more.
  • Rely on mints, gum, mouth wash to cover up alcohol breath.
