Pre-requisite: LAN - 228 Elementary Spanish for Heritage Speakers or permission of the Academic Coordinator.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

LAN 229 - Intermediate Spanish for Heritage Speakers, is a continuation of Elementary Spanish for Heritage Speakers. it addresses vocabulary and specific linguistic problems such as orthography and grammar through guided composition, the reading of short stories, and through other means.

COURSE GOALS

Upon completion of the course, students will have developed solid reading and writing strategies in Spanish. Students will be able to read and write on a variety of topics, and express opinions and interpretations of literary and journalistic readings. In addition, students will acquire cultural competency and will be able to comprehend and discuss historical and political events, learn about current social and political issues, and the major protagonists in the arts, letters, and politics in the different Spanish- speaking countries.
