Why did you choose to attend Bergen?
I wanted to see if I could survive in college and take most of my first two years of the four-year college here and transfer to a pharmacy school and only have to do the core classes for a pharmacy degree.
What do you do at Bergen besides attending classes?
I use the weightlifting facilities, computer labs, library, career center/job finder place, swimming pool, etc. Also I'll be joining student government, maybe the African American Club, maybe The Torch.
What do you like best about Bergen?
The fact that it only takes me less than ten minutes to get here and it wasn't hard to get accepted into the school.
What is your favorite quote and why?
"Alone in a crowd" -- no matter how many people we surround ourselves with when we die, we must face death alone.
What is your advice to prospective students?
Always attend a community college first - that way you can adjust to the college atmosphere while figuring out what you want to do. Figure out what career you want, then research all the schools that offer it, look at their requirements, for transfer students and look at the program outline. After that take as many of the first two year classes that are required in a four-year school thus saving money and GPA if you flunk it (since the four-year school will not transfer over any grades below a C). Use financial aid as much as possible because you won't be able to use it after you get your undergraduate degree. Take at least one computer class since computers are the way of the future. Make friends with older students to, so they can give or sell you their books for a cheaper price. ALWAYS register early to get into the classes you want at your desired time. Get involved in at least one club and become an important member - president, VP, etc. Study hard and be on the Honor Roll -- the school usually gives you money (scholarships, awards, etc.). Experiment/experience life a little -- all within reason of course as in do NOT do something that could kill you, but try new things.

Class of:Currently attending Seton Hall Business School
Major/Minor:Business

Why did you choose to attend Bergen?
I came to Bergen as a transfer student from Richard Stockton College of NJ. I did not have enough money at the time to pay for an expensive school. Therefore I opted to seek the best education I could financially afford. Bergen offered quality that was superior to most community colleges in NJ and it proved to be the right choice.
What do you do at Bergen besides attending classes?
I was never too involved because I was working at the time.
What do you like best about Bergen?
What I liked about Bergen the most was it’s library and how many courses it offered. I would rate the English composition courses as effective. Effective meaning that it provided you with enough understanding and background to write detailed oriented papers with good structure. My literature courses I rate as excellent. They not only provoked you to think beyond the text, but show how literature can also relate to you. Professor ______ motivated his students to find the story within story…to find how the choices of words are never random. Professor _______'s classes always emphasized how literature sometimes echoes our lives. From Lao Tzu to Petrarch, she instilled into me the importance of literature.
What is your favorite quote and why?
“There is a time in every man’s education when he arrives at the conviction that envy is ignorance; that imitation is suicide; that he must take himself for better, for worse, as his portion…” (Emerson, Passage from Self-Reliance) Transcendentalism is one of my favorite movements in literature. I find the works of such authors as Emerson, Thoreau, and Longfellow endearing to the human soul.
What is your advice to prospective students?
My advice is to explore your options. Bergen can be a place that allows you to find yourself. If you are an art major, take some science. If you are a business major, take some literature courses. As life goes on you will become limited to your options, so take advantage of them while they exist.
