International Students Admission

  • International Students requesting an F-1 International Visa Status cannot apply online for admissions to Bergen Community College.
  • Please be aware that an M-1 and WT visa status cannot be changed to   F-1, international student status, in the United States.
  • Deadlines:  May 1 (Fall) and October 15 (Spring)  
Students must be accepted into a two-year degree program in order to obtain an I-20 form from Bergen Community College.  There are some degree programs for which students on a  visa  cannot apply upon initial application. Please be sure to read the special notes on the Application of Admission very carefully.

  REQUIREMENTS (Items needed for I-20 form) (effective September 1, 2006)

INITIAL STATUS  (Converting visa status from one type to another).

         Application for admissions.
          Official and original proof of graduation, and grades from high school or college. 
             (This must be translated to English by a certified translation agency.)
          Photocopy of passport pages (not blank pages).
         Bergen Community College financial affidavit.
          I-539 form and check for $200.00 written to UCIS (Immigration)
          I-94 card photocopy (both sides).
          Letter from bank reflected in United States dollars.
             ($18,000 = Applicant; $8,000 = Spouse; $4,000 = Each Child)
          SEVIS Information Form. 
         A $100 SEVIS visa fee (if applicable)  
             Visit SEVIS for detailed information concerning this fee

OUT OF UNITED STATES APPLICANT (Applying from outside of the United States for F-1 status).

         Application for admissions.
          Official and original proof of graduation, and grades from high school or college.
             (This must be translated to English by a certified translation agency.)
         Bergen Community College financial affidavit.
         Letter from bank reflected in United States dollars. Internation Students/Activity
            ($18,000 = Applicant; $8,000 = Spouse; $4,000 = Each Child)
        
SEVIS Information Form.
          A $100 SEVIS visa fee (if applicable)  
             Visit SEVIS for detailed information concerning this fee

TRANSFER STATUS  (Transferring from one U.S. school/college to Bergen Community College when applicant already has F-1 visa status)

         Application for admissions.
         Official and original proof of graduation, and grades from high school or college.
             (This must be translated to English by a certified translation agency.)
        
International student advisor report.
          I-20 from transfer institution.
         Photocopy of passport pages (not blank pages).
         Bergen Community College financial affidavit.
         I-94 card photocopy (both sides).
         Letter from bank reflected in United States dollars.
            ($18,000 = Applicant; $8,000 = Spouse; $4,000 = Each Child)
          
SEVIS Information Form.

REINSTATEMENT  (Previous F-1 status and need to regain it due to non-attendance)

         Application for admissions.
         Official and original proof of graduation, and grades from high school or college. 
             (This must be translated to English by a certified translation agency.)
        
International student advisor report.
         I-20 from transfer institution (photocopy).
         Photocopy of passport pages (not blank pages).
         Bergen Community College financial affidavit.
         I-539 form and check for $200.00 written to USCIS (Immigration).
         I-94 card photocopy (both sides).
         Letter from bank reflected in United States dollars.
            ($18,000 = Applicant; $8,000 = Spouse; $4,000 = Each Child)

         Reinstatement letter (from the applicant explaining why he/she should regain F-1 status).
