1. Where is the Philip Ciarco Learning Center located?

2. How do I get to the Ciarco Learning Center?
Answer: THE CIARCO LEARNING CENTER IN HACKENSACK IS LOCATED:
- between Berry & Passaic Streets
- diagonally across from the YMCA
- directly on the corner of Main & Passaic Streets
FROM ROUTE 4: (EITHER DIRECTION) Take the Hackensack Avenue exit (SOUTH) - which turns into River Street. At the traffic light before McDonald's, turn right onto Passaic Street. Drive one block, cross Main Street and continue. The Learning Center is located immediately on the left.
FROM ROUTE 17: (COMING FROM PARAMUS AND POINTS NORTH) Take Route 17 SOUTH to Route 4 EAST. Then, follow the directions FROM ROUTE 4 above.
FROM ROUTE 17: (COMING FROM ROUTE 3 AND POINTS SOUTH) Exit Polifly Road, pass the Hilton Hasbrouck Heights Hotel on your right-hand side, and travel to the traffic light on Essex Street. Turn right onto Essex Street. The Bergen County Courthouse will be visible straight ahead of you. Bear left at the Courthouse onto Main Street. Continue on Main Street to the Learning Center at 355 Main Street.
FROM SOUTH JERSEY VIA GARDEN STATE PARKWAY-Take Exit 160 going NORTH (just after the Bergen Toll Plaza.). At the foot of the exit ramp, bear right onto Passaic Street. Continue on Passaic Street for 3 miles (about 9 traffic lights) to State Street in Hackensack. Cross State Street and continue for 1/2 block. The Learning Center is immediately on your right-hand side, at the corner of Passaic and Main Streets.
VIA NJ TURNPIKE-Take Exit 18-W to Route 80 WEST. Stay in the LOCAL LANES, to Exit 66, to Hudson Street. Turn left at the traffic light onto Hudson Street. Hudson Street turns into Main Street at the Courthouse. Continue on Main Street to the Learning Center at 355 Main Street. FROM NEW YORK Take the George Washington Bridge. Cross over the bridge onto Route 80 WEST. Stay in the LOCAL LANES, to Exit 66, to Hudson Street. Turn left at the traffic light onto Hudson Street. Hudson Street turns into Main Street. Continue on Main Street to the Learning Center at 355 Main Street.
DIRECTIONS TO PARKING LOT: Enter the parking lot from Passaic Street or Berry Street. The lot is between Main and State Streets behind the Learning Center. Be sure you do not park in the parking spaces in the parking lot that is immediately behind the Main Street merchants.
3. When can I register for non-credit courses offered by the Ciarco Leaning Center?
Answer: The Ciarco Learning Center has open enrollment, students may register any time during the year.
4. How do I register for non-credit classes at the Ciarco Jr. Learning Center?
Answer: Registration for the pre-college courses takes place at the Ciarco Jr. Learning Center at 355 Main Street, Hackensack, New Jersey.
Monday - Thursday from 8:30 am - 9:00 p.m.
Fridays - 8:30 am - 4:30 p.m.
Registration for the college-level and continuing education courses takes place at the main Bergen Community College Campus, 400 Paramus Road, Paramus, N.J.
5. Are tuition credits and records automatically transferred to the Paramus campus?
Answer: Yes
6. What is the course cancellation policy?
Answer: Occasionally, insufficient registrations are received for a particular program. The Ciarco Learning Center reserves the right to cancel any class because of insufficient registration. Cancellations usually occur within forty-eight hours prior to the first class session. Every effort will be made to reach students by phone ahead of time. Because this is usually done by phone, it is absolutely necessary that we have both DAY AND EVENING telephone numbers where you can be reached. If it is difficult to reach you, we suggest you call the Ciarco Learning Center at 489-1551 to confirm your class.
7. What is the refund policy?
Answer: REFUND POLICY All refunds must be requested in writing and must be addressed to Mr. Walter Hecht, Dean of the Ciarco Jr. Learning Center
NOTE: GENERAL FEES, WHICH ARE INCLUDED IN THE TOTAL COST OF TUITION, ARE NOT REFUNDABLE. Also, refund requests must be submitted within the time frame shown below (no exceptions). 100% refund-prior to the first day of class. 75% refund-the first day and up to the fourth day of class. 50% refund-the fifth day and up to the eighth day of class.
8. How do we find out about emergency closings?
Answer: In the event of inclement weather or other unexpected emergency, the college may decide to cancel classes. Since it is impossible to contact all students, announcements of college closing will be made on radio stations WOR 710, WNBC 660, WMCA 57, WCBS 88, and on Cablevision Channel 25.
