DRUG AND ALCOHOL COUNSELING CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
HH 836 Certification in Drug and Alcohol Counseling (30 sessions) $730. a New Jersey State Certification in Drug and Alcohol Counseling (CADC) through the Division of Continuing Education. This program is designed to meet all of the educational requirements of the Addiction Professionals Certification Board of New Jersey, Inc. (APCBNJ, INC.)
To become eligible for certification, students must complete 270 clock hours in five areas called “Domains,” as well as complete 3,000 hours of field experience (paid or voluntary) under the supervision of a certified alcoholism counselor. The educational hours are offered each semester in 30 3-hour sessions. This course is a 3-semester commitment. You are also required to attend meetings on your own time. The required meetings are as follows:
• 15 Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)
• 15 ALANON
• 15 Narcotics Anonymous (NA)
Upon successful completion of educational hours and field experience, you will be required to take a written and an oral exam given by the Certification Board. Please call the Certification Board for an information packet (and read it!) prior to enrolling in this program. Suggested textbooks will be discussed. Exams will be given. Attendance is mandatory. High School diploma or GED is required to be certified in Drug and Alcohol Counseling.
