Personal Counselor

The Personal Counselor will provide personal counseling and support to students with disabilities. Additional responsibilities include the review of disability documentation, provide short-term, confidential counseling, administer and explain academic accommodations, teach problem-solving skills and create and facilitate support groups to students on the autism spectrum. Will also work with faculty to develop strategies to support student success. 

Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or related field and two years experience working with individuals with disabilities and the ability to interact with a diverse student population required. Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills; background and experience working with young adults on the autism spectrum required. Knowledge of federal law relating to rights of individuals with disabilities, specifically Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and ADA is preferred. Experience working in higher education environment a plus.
