Meet the Staff

Vince D'Elia

 Vincent A. D'Elia is theRegional DirectoroftheBergen Small Business Development Center. Mr. D'Elia was the CEO of DEWPRO Textiles, an institutional and industrial textile products manufacturer, for 16 years. For eight years thereafter, he was an independent management consultant to small and mid-sized entrepreneurial businesses. He specializes in operational and financial analysis, trouble-shooting, re-organization and problem-solving. In 1994 he joined the Bergen Small Business Development Center as the Assistant Regional Director and became the Regional Director in 1998. Under the GI Bill, he earned an Associate in Arts from New York City Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Management from Long Island University, a Certificate in Financial Counseling from New York University, and his Masters of Business Administration at Ramapo College of New Jersey. He is the recipient of the U. S. Small Business Administration, special achievement award in 2002, for his participation in assisting distressed businesses of the Sept 11th tragedy. He has been honored in NJ Biz, “Who’s Who, NJ Business Leaders” for 2001 and 2002, and the recipient of the “NJSBDC Star Performer Award” in 2001.

 

Vince Vicari

Vincent J. Vicari is the Assistant Regional Director of the Bergen Small Business Development Center. Mr. Vicari is a lifetime resident of Bergen County and holds an M.B.A. from National University in San Diego, a B.A. from William Paterson College, and an A.A.S from Bergen Community College. His work experience began in the retail co-op program at Bergen Community College, where he embarked on a long career in sales and management at Sears, Roebuck and Co in both hard and soft line areas. He brings private and public sector management successes from retail, industrial packaging, grocery, convenience, and food retailing as well as in closely held professional service family business.  Mr. Vicari recently served as Director of University Centers at Sussex, Morris, and Warren County bringing baccalaureate programs to Northwest New Jersey. Mr. Vicari has taught Marketing and Management sciences at a number of community colleges and Universities.  He has engineered new uses of technology which has delivered educational resources to remote and distributed populations. These systems have enhanced teaching, advisement, and access to educational content throughout the state of New Jersey.  Mr. Vicari has published and presented in domestic and international venues on these topics resulting in multiple awards on the use of teleconferencing, consumer issues, serving remote populations, and distributed learning.

Marie S. Kaplow

 Marie S. Kaplowis the Senior Secretary of the Bergen Small Business development Center. Mrs. Kaplow has been with the SBDC since it opened in 1992. Mrs. Kaplow is a Bergen County resident and holds an A. A. and A. A. S. degree from Bergen Community College. She is a recipient of Who’s Who in American Junior Colleges 2003, Alpha Beta Gamma award 2000, and Outstanding Leadership award from BCC Student Government Association 2004. Prior to becoming a BCC employee and student, she attended Fairleigh Dickinson University and was employed in the Testing Division of Bendix Aviation in Teterboro, and Unilever Corp. in Upper Saddle River, as an executive secretary. She has been with the SBDC since it opened in 1992, and is employed 21 years with Bergen Community College. She is enrolled at Thomas Edison College for her Bachelor’s degree.
