Accommodations and Services
CCDE provides Academic Accommodations in conjunction with the Office of Specialized Services at Bergen Community College. Students must submit documentation according to deadlines and be deemed eligible for services. In addition to standard Accommodations, CCDE also offers:
Orientation
Students are encouraged to participate in the college wide new student orientation. However, in addition CCDE students are invited to attend accommodation orientations on access services on campus.
Priority Registration
All students with a documented hearing loss are eligible for Individual Registration Assistance (IRA). Students meet one on one with an academic counselor, at designated times throughout the year, to identify and compose a schedule that is conducive to each individual student's needs.
Tutors
Tutoring services are accessible to all BCC students through the college's Learning Resource Center. Interpreters are provided upon student request, and when possible, tutors fluent in ASL are hired to work with students. Students with documented hearing loss are eligible for permanent tutoring appointments in the Learning Assistance Center
Assistive Technology
Networked computer classrooms, access to the Internet, public videophones, infrared loops, closed-caption videos and TV monitors, and a looped theater provide students with the most current technology available.
CCDE Computer Lab
The CCDE Computer Lab is located in L-121B. All CCDE students are welcome to use the lab for completing assignments, researching papers, and improving their academic skills.
