Bergen at a Glance

The College has a diverse population of students, who come from more than 140 countries around the world.

The College recently reached a record enrollment of more than 15,000 students in Associate in Arts, Associate in Science and Associate in Applied Science degree programs and certificate programs. More than 10,000 students are enrolled in non-credit, professional development courses through the Division of Continuing Education.

Bergen offers its students an affordable tuition rate, far below the cost of many four-year institutions.

There are 340 full-time faculty members who hold master’s degrees, doctorates, or both.

The College’s Nursing Program has a 94 percent pass rate on the Nursing Licensure exam within the State of New Jersey.

Bergen’s entire 167-acre campus is entirely smoke free as of January 1, 2008. The proactive measure allows Bergen to join the ranks of over 100 colleges who have banned smoking on their campuses.

Approximately 33,000 students have graduated from Bergen since 1970. Graduates are actively sought by four-year institutions and by business, industry, health care facilities, law firms, government, and social service agencies in Bergen County.

Bergen’s Academic Buildings

The College’s main campus features the Pitkin Education Center, a 750,000 square-foot, three-story building, which includes the Sidney Silverman Library. The building also houses the Student Center and the Anna Maria Ciccone Theatre. West Hall is a high-tech facility that contains television studios, a radio studio and a video conference center. Other buildings include Skoskie Hall, and the Technology Education Center, which contains computer labs, two observatory domes and an interactive television and videoconference center. The Moses Family Meeting and Training Center is also located in the Technology Education Center. Rounding out the buildings is Ender Hall, which contains the Early Childhood Development Center, a 2500 square-foot greenhouse complex and a 100-seat theatre.

Located in Hackensack, the Philip J. Ciarco Jr. Learning Center provides basic educational services for adults who have not completed a high school education and for those who want to learn English-as-a second-language.
