Vice President for Continuing Education, Community Outreach, and Grants Development
Susan A. Johnson was appointed Continuing Education, Community Outreach and Grants Development Vice President of Bergen Community College in 2007.
Ms. Johnson brings 26 years of professional experience in both private enterprise and public institutions to the College. Most recently, she served as assistant dean of Corporate and Continuing Education at Raritan Valley Community College, North Branch. During her tenure, she worked with Bergen President G. Jeremiah Ryan prior to his own appointment at the College.
Ms. Johnson began her career as a financial analyst after graduating from Seton Hall University, South Orange (Bachelor of Science, Computer Science and Accounting) and Fairleigh Dickinson University, Madison (Master of Business Administration, Management and Computer Science). During other periods of her professional career, Ms. Johnson became an instructor of Computer Science, Accounting and Taxes at Warren County Community College, Washington, and Raritan Valley Community College; netted $4 million of revenue as a national account executive for a computer services company; and owned a consulting company.
Before joining Bergen, Ms. Johnson worked at Raritan Valley Community College for seven years. She came to the institution as the regional director of the college's new Small Business Development Center. After five years in this position, Ms. Johnson was appointed assistant dean of Corporate and Continuing Education. As assistant dean, Ms. Johnson engineered many special projects and expanded the division's reach.
