Students will learn the technique of layering color to emphasize shading and the techniques of salting, blocking, washing, bleeding and use of sponge and cloth to introduce texture. Mixed mediums of oil pastels and chalk with watercolor, as well as creating unusual stamping and stencil patterns will provide the opportunity to exhibit unique expressions.
CE 851 One Stroke Painting: Students will learn how to properly load and hold the brushes for blending, shading, highlighting and stroking. Students will be taught the use of "floating medium" and how to load the brush with two or three colors. Vines, leaves, wildflowers, grasses, five petal flowers, sunflowers, wiggle leaves and wisterial will be taught. As each student progresses the sketch paid will become his/her record of achievement.
A complete set of supplies which includes: a practice sketch pad, 13-2 oz paints, 10 folk art brushes, 12 reusable training guides, workbook floating medium and brush cleaner can be purchased for $49. from the insturctor.
