Student Services Vice President
Raymond T. Smith was appointed Student Services Vice President of Bergen Community College in 2006. He is responsible for all student services including enrollment, student life, cooperative education, and student development. He is also in charge of health services, specialized services, and the Educational Opportunity Fund program.
Mr. Smith came to Bergen from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, where he most recently served as the Associate Provost for Student Affairs, and before that, as the Associate Dean / Director of Academic Affairs at Rutgers University – Newark College of Arts and Sciences. In the community college sector, he served as the Director of the Educational Opportunity Fund program at Bergen Community College, the Presidential Assistant at Sussex Community College, and in the Office of Community Colleges for the New Jersey State Department of Higher Education.
In addition to his administrative experiences, Mr. Smith also served as an adjunct professor at Rutgers University, Bergen Community College, Essex Community College, Somerset County Community College, and Clinton Correctional Facility. He also served as the Chief of Staff for the New Jersey State Legislature, 34th District.
Mr. Smith is a graduate of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey (B.A. and Ed.M.).
