 4 Young Learners

ATTENTION ALL PARENTS AND KIDS!!!

NEW:  Yogalites for Children  Ages 8-12 ONLY  Sat. 4/12-5/3/08 9:30 am-11:00 am $55.   Maria Tozzi: Yoga presents children with the opportunity to develop self-awareness, self-control and better concentration.  This class will offer children the opportunity to keep their stress level low and to gain a sense of inner peace.  Yoga is a "natural" for children since it addresses the whole child and their natural agility.  This class will begin with breath awareness and instruction on how to breathe properly using the diaphragm.  Postures that stretch and strengthen the muscles will be explored and the class will end with a guided meditation.

New:  Ask Math Preparation for 5th and 6th Grade Students   Patricia Havel  $155. Grade 5:  9:00 11:00 am Sat. 1/26-3/8/08   Grade 6:  11:30 am 1:30 pm Sat. 1/26-3/8/08  No class on 2/16/08 for either session.Ask math class will focus on specific skills and applications in accordance with the NJ Core Curriculum Standards.  Students will use detailed strategies and alternative techniques to promote success.  Practice tests and use of manipulatives as visual aides for abstract concepts in mathematics will be utilized.

CE 872 Algebra Made Easy  (6 sessions)   $145.Get the extra help you need to do well in Algebra or enrich your knoledge.  Curriculum is designed to review wthe basic concepts in math for beginning Algebra.  The focus is to introduce students to various succeful problem-solving stragegies and critical thinking.  GRADES 7-9 ONLY.4/5-5/10/08  Sat. 9:00 -10:30 am Karen Amato

Math can be fun! Improve your skills and test-taking ability in preparation for the Grade Eight Proficiency Assessment, (GEPA), taken in 8th grade. Learn how to approach different types of questions, when to take an educated guess, and how to use your time wisely. Students learn test format and test-taking skills including concentration techniques. The focus of the class is on preparation for the math section of the GEPA, but some time will be devoted to the Language Arts component of the test. 807  Babysitter Training Course                                                $95

Become marketable, knowledgeable and Red-Cross certified in the American Red Cross Babysitter Training Course. In this 6-hour program, babysitters ages 11-15 learn how to prevent injuries, identify and avoid potential hazards in the home, diaper and feed babies, make simple healthy meals for kids and deal with bedtime issues. Plus, learn the interview skills that will get you babysitting jobs. Bring a bagged lunch to class please. A supervised break will be provided. For ages 11 - 15.

NEW  $170. Anime:  Japanese Animation

Ages 8-10  4/12-5/10/08  .  9:30-Noon 

Ages 11-12 4/12-5/10/08    9:30-Noon

 

In Anime, children will learn the Japanese art of animation.  The basics of head and facial features plus body shapes, hands and feet, animal anime and more.  Each child will get their own Abrakadoodle Anime Guide Book to help them through the steps to create their own anime characters.

 

NEW:   Gallery Art Series I

Ages 8-10 9:30-12:30 pm 1/26-2/16/08

Ages 11-12 9:30-12:30 pm 1/26-2/`16/08

$165.  Both sessions are on Sat. This class is fun and educational.  Children will learn about famous artists, different types of art, varous artistic styles and techniques and, they will create their own framed masterpieces!  Artists featured in this session include:  Bearden, Burchfiield, Matisse, O'Keefe, Picasso and more.  Students will be give an artist "trading card" with each lesson and a card album to store them in.

 

NEW:  Gallery Art Series II

Ages 8-10 9:30-12:30

Ages 11-12 9:30-12:30

Both are from 1/23-3/15/08 Saturdays.

This is the second part to Gallery Art Series II.  In this session artists such as Faberge, Cassatt, Carle , Audubon, Aricimoblo, Hokusai, Klee and more will be introduced.  "Trading-cards" and albums will also be included.
