Pharmacy Technician Certificate Program
HH 133 Pharmacy Technician Certificate Program (17 sessions) $1,200
Pharmacy Technicians work in pharmacies under the direction of a pharmacist. Their main responsibility is filling prescriptions according to doctors’ orders. Pharmacy Technicians prepare medications for dispensing to patients. This generally includes retrieving drugs in the correct dosage form and strength, measuring the appropriate amount of drug and producing a prescription label. Pharmacy technicians work with drugs to be administered orally, topically, for the eye, nose, etc. Depending upon the practice setting, a Pharmacy Technician is also involved in the admixture of drugs for intravenous use. Other duties include:
•Checking inventories and ordering supplies
•Receiving and checking in supplies
•Assisting customers
•Keeping pharmacy work areas clean
•Complete insurance forms
•Preparation of “bingo cards” for nursing home patients
This 50-hour comprehensive certificate program prepares students to enter the pharmacy field and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s PTCB exam.
Prerequisite: Students should have taken math and science in high school. A High School Diploma or GED is required to sit for the PTCB exam.

HH 951 Personal Trainer Certificate Program $495
Whether you are thinking of a new career or for your own personal knowledge, get all the information you need to become a Certified Personal Trainer. Course consists of fifteen hours of lecture on anatomy, exercise physiology, nutrition, musculoskeletal injuries, health screening, Kinesiology and cardiorespiratory fitness, and fifteen hours of “hands-on” practical training evaluating your clients’ biomechanics of exercise equipment usage and weight training techniques. During the last week of class a national written and practical exam is given. Required: Proof of CPR is required for certification. If you do not have CPR Certification, see Page 64.

HH 123 Senior Personal Trainer Certification This unique certification course provides you with knowledge and practical skills for personal training of older adult clients. Appropriate exercise program design, diseases and specific physical conditions among older adults, are just some of the topics covered in this 18-hour course. Proof of CPR is required for certification. Prerequisite: Fitness related degree and/or a national certified personal trainer.

NEW Electrocardiography Certificate Program $235. (EKG/ECG)
This course prepares students to work in hospitals, cardiology offices, cardiac rehabilitation centers, nurisng homes and continued care facilities. Proper 12 lead ECG placement and performance, 24-hour holter monitor, cardiac medical terminology. The Division of Continuing Education certificates are issued upon successful completion and successful students are eligible to sit for National Health Career Association certification test in EKG.
