| Amikaeyla ~The Elephant’s Child
Saturday, January 27, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. in the Ciccone Theatre

Amikaeyla Proudfoot Gaston captivates her audience with stories, songs and poetry from traditional tales of African American and Native American cultures. Joined by her musical
ensemble, she weaves the words of her ancestors with music to create intimate, inspiring life lessons. Amikaeyla’s The Elephant’s Child, based on Rudyard Kipling’s classic story, is a superbly rendered and wondrously imaginative interpretation of the quest for knowledge and truth. Ami’s interactive storytelling, original songs, flute and African drumming work in harmony with the beautiful scenes created by vibrant dancers bringing the characters to life. Together, they take the audience on a “journey to learn,” incorporating sign language and audience participation along the way. A Black History Month Performance. |
