McCollough Sons of Thunder ~“Shout” Gospel Sunday, February 11, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. in the Ciccone Theatre

From Harlem’s United House of Prayer comes New York’s premier “shout” Gospel band. The McCollough Sons of Thunder,with twelve musicians, brings the rich tradition of African-American Gospel music to their brass ensemble. Whether collaborating with David Byrne or performing at The White House, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, or the Apollo Theater, this group brings audiences to their feet. For over 40 years, the McCollough Sons of Thunder Brass Band has played instruments with the vocal quality reminiscent of the “singing” steel string guitars. Isle of Klezbos ~ Genre Bending Music

This soulful, all-gal, Klezmer sextet approaches tradition with irreverence and respect. Since their 1998 debut, Isle of Klezbos has extensively toured North America and Europe. Their award-winning recordings have topped world music charts at home and abroad, and their exuberance led the Village Voice to proclaim: “These women will make you shake your tushies!” Isle of Klezbos first emerged as an organic offshoot of New York’s famed Metropolitan Klezmer, also founded by drummer Eve Sicular. The sextet brings together a rare combination of talent inspired by extensive experiences in an array of styles, from Klezmer to Cajun, funk, reggae, classical, punk, and Latin jazz.
