PARAMUS, N.J. (June 22, 2010) – With evening telescope observations open to the public, stargazers unite at Bergen Community College.
For more than five years, Bergen has opened the doors to its Emil Buehler Trust Observatory, giving the public the opportunity to view celestial objects through three 16-inch reflecting telescopes. Admission to the observatory is free. Visitors receive guided access to the telescopes and view objects such as the moon, Venus and Saturn.
Beginning July 9, the observations will take place Friday evenings from 9:00 p.m. to midnight in the Technology Education Center at Bergen’s main campus, 400 Paramus Road, Paramus. Previously, the observations were held on Saturday evenings.
In the event of inclement weather, viewings are cancelled. Please visit www.bergen.edu/buehler for information regarding cancellations. If no statement is posted by 4:00 p.m., viewings will proceed as planned.
For additional information on the viewings or the observatory, e-mail ropstbaum@bergen.edu.
The College’s Buehler Columbia Amateur Astronomers Association, a group of professors and others interested in astronomy, organize the observations.
Bergen Community College (www.bergen.edu) based in Paramus is a public two-year coeducational college, enrolling nearly 17,000 students at locations in Paramus, the Philip J.
