Campus Migration to Exchange 2003
Beginning Monday, August 15, 2005, OIT will begin to migrating all College email mailboxes to our new Exchange 2003 Cluster. The enhanced email platform should increase reliability, performance, and security of College email services while enabling continued improvements to spam and virus protection for the College community.
In order to minimize disruption to email services, OIT will be moving College mailboxes to our new mail platform during evening and weekend hours. Over the next few weeks, OIT will migrate mailboxes after 11PM on weekdays and throughout the weekends. During the migration, there will be no interruption in e-mail service. However, for the brief amount of time a user’s mailbox is being moved their e-mail account will be inaccessible. This period of time should not exceed 15 minutes.
Once your account is migrated, our improved Outlook Web Access (OWA) Web-based email system will automatically become available. The new interface will provide a Web-based email system that more closely resembles our desktop version of Outlook. In addition to improvements in the areas of security and performance, OWA supports more Outlook functionality, including Spell Check, task management, and drop and drag capabilities.
If you should experience any problems with e-mail after your mailbox has been moved, or have any questions regarding the mailbox migration or our new e-mail infrastructure please feel free to contact the OIT Help Desk at 201-447-7109, option 1.
