Photocopier FAQ
Let us answer your questions about using the copy machines--
1. Where can I purchase a copy card?
Copy cards are available for purchase in the COPY ROOM (Library Main Floor). To purchase a card, insert a $1 bill into the dispenser. Hold on to your card. It can be re-used from semester to semester. IMPORTANT: The copy card dispenser does NOT give or make change.
2. How much do copies cost?
Black & white copies cost 10 cents per page. Color copies cost 20 cents per page.
3. My card has no money left on it. How can I add value to my card?
You can add money to your card using the copy card dispensers in the Library. To add money, insert your copy card in the upper right hand corner to read its current dollar value. Then insert cash (bills only, no coins) into the lower slot. The new amount will show on the screen. When adding value to your card, the machine accepts $1, $2, $5, or $10 bills. We recommend that you do not put more than $5 on your card at a time in case you lose it. IMPORTANT: The copy card dispenser does not give or make change.
4. Can I get a receipt for my copy card?
Yes. When you purchase your card or add money to your card at the card dispenser, press the receipt button in the upper left corner.
5. Why do the copiers only take copy cards?
The handling of coins takes a great deal of time and effort, and occasionally causes mechanical problems with the machines. Since we switched to copy cards, we have made fewer service calls. Overall, our users tell us they prefer the copy card system.
6. I only have a $20 bill. Where can I get change?
The Library is unable to provide change. The cafeteria and bookstore may be able to provide change, but you may have to purchase an item. Please come to campus prepared. The copy card dispensers take bills only, NO COINS. The card dispensers do not provide change.
7. Where on campus can I make copies?
In addition to the Library in the Main Building, there are photocopiers in the TEC Building in Room 114 (near the entrance) and in East Hall near Room 123. All of the photocopiers require a copy card. Copy cards are available for purchase ONLY in the Copy Room of the Library, Main Floor.
8. Can I use the copiers to make transparencies?
Yes. All of the copiers accept transparencies using the manual bypass tray. Ask for assistance at the Service Desk.
9. Where can I make color copies?
The Library in the Main Building has a color copier. Copies cost 20 cents each. It can make both 8 ½ x 11” and 8 ½ x 14” copies. Ask for assistance at the Circulation Desk.
10. Can I make double-sided copies?
Yes. All of the copiers make double-sided copies. Use the top-loading tray with the copies face up. Select the two-sided copying feature and press “start”. Ask for help at the Service Desk.
