In response to New Jersey’s thriving biotechnology industry, Bergen Community College has initiated two new programs in biotechnology. The College is offering an Associate in Science degree in Biotechnology, designed to prepare students for transfer to a four-year college or university; and a Certificate of Achievement, designed for students with existing academic or practical experiences that wish to hone their skills or change career paths.
“Bergen Community College is committed to developing science programs that support the future of New Jersey’s pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, and providing career opportunities for Bergen students,” says Dr. Gary Porter, Academic Vice President of Bergen Community College. “The faculty and academic officers at the College collaborated with leaders in the biotechnology industry, as well as the four-year colleges in New Jersey and the metropolitan region, to develop these superior programs that will provide students with the academic foundations for careers in areas such as research and development, quality systems, production, clinical testing, and diagnostic work.”
Bergen Community College is a public two-year coeducational college, enrolling more than 14,000 students in Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, and Associate in Applied Science degree programs, and certificate programs. More than 10,000 students are enrolled in non-credit, professional courses through the Division of Continuing Education, the Institute for Learning in Retirement, and the Philip J. Ciarco Jr. Learning Center, located at 355 Main Street, Hackensack. Information about the College is available at http://www.bergen.edu or by phoning the Welcome Center at 201-447-7200.
