Self-Directed Search
The Self-Directed Search (SDS) Assessment Inventory is used by individuals who are seeking to identify potential career choices. This paper and pencil questionnaire assesses aspects of your personality, and provides job listings that relate to the personality, in the hopes of providing you with a career path to explore. If you already have made up your mind about an occupation, then this assessment may support your choice or provide you with alternatives.
The questionnaire takes an average of 30 minutes to fill out, with the follow-up discussion and identification of the job listings lasting anywhere from 40 minutes to 1 1/2 hours. Most students will split this time between two appointments.
To take the SDS, please schedule an appointment with one of the career counselors in the Cooperative Education & Career Development Center, Room C-100, (201) 447-7171.
