Is the Great American Songbook closed or is Susan Werner writing a new chapter? George Gershwin, Cole Porter, and Richard Rodgers epitomized the Golden Age of Popular Song. Werner’s fourth CD, I Can’t Be New, salutes this bygone era, charting new territory in style, but offering the same high quality writing that her devoted admirers and fans have come to expect. A breakthrough singer-songwriter since the mid-‘90s, Susan Werner has a reputation as one of the most compelling performers on the touring circuit. Her musical training, which includes a master’s degree in classical voice, adds depth when combined with her skills as a songwriter and lyricist.
