RUTGERS NEWARK GENERAL EDUCATION

Are you planning to transfer to Rutgers University–Newark when you complete your studies at BCC?
The following courses will transfer as General Education requirements at RU/Newark.

RUTGERS-NEWARK DEGREE REQUIREMENTS BCC EQUIVALENT COURSES
English Composition WRT 101 & WRT 201
Foreign Language: Six credits are required only if you have less than two years of high school language.
History and Literature:  
  • Two semesters of History
HIS 101, HIS 102, HIS 111, HIS 112, HIS 113, HIS 114, HIS 130, HIS 131
  • Two semesters of Literature
LIT 201, LIT 202, LIT 203, LIT 204, LIT 205, LIT 206
Math Proficiency MAT 045 (non-degree credit) with a grade of B will exempt you from Rutgers math placement exam
Math Requirement: One course in math or computer science MAT 180 with a B or better
Natural Science: Lab science sequences:
BIO 101 & BIO 203 or
BIO 107 & BIO 108 or
ESC 111 & ESC 112 or
ESC 113 & ESC 114 or
CHM 140/141 & CHM 240/241
Social Science: ECO 101 & ECO 201 or
POL 103 & POL 104 or
POL 101 & POL 102 or
SOC 101 & SOC 103

Fine Art:

Any Fine Arts General Ed. course

Interdisciplinary course:

HIS 105; PHR 102, PHR 103, PHR 105, PHR 110, PHR121, PHR 203; LIT 228; SOC 121

Electives:

15 credits chosen from subjects outside your major
