You may have a drinking problem if you….
- Lie to friends and family about how much alcohol you use
- Drink alone most of the time. (and, Do you start and end your day with a drink?)
- Need alcohol to “have fun”. (Is alcohol central to your social life?)
- Have more than 2 alcoholic drinks each day
- Have frequent hangovers. (Do you get drunk on a regular basis?)
- Feel run-down, depressed
- Have blackouts and do not remember what you did when you were drinking
- Have problems at school, work, home. (Do others complain about your moods or anger?)
- Have trouble with the law for alcohol related incidents
- Hide alcohol for future use.
- Experienced changes in relationships. (Are most of your new friends drinking buddies?)
- Miss school or work, especially on Mondays.
- Have trouble stopping or limiting alcohol use.
- Cope with feelings (stress, anger, disappointment) by drinking more.
- Rely on mints, gum, mouth wash to cover up alcohol breath.
