ESL and Civics Education Program

ESL and Civics courses are now being offered through the Bergen Community College Ciarco Learning Center in Hackensack. The ESL and Civics program offers students the opportunity to study and improve their English language skills and, at the same time, to learn about life in America.  The primary emphasis of the program is to help students who are learning the English language to build confidence and to develop their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.  Also, for students whose life goals, either now or in the future, include improving their abilities to more fully participate in community civic activities or to obtain U.S. citizenship; then this is a learning opportunity to help achieve these goals!  In classes you will develop the skills you will need including:

• studying and improving your English language skills
• studying about life in America
• improving your knowledge to be able to pass the U.S. Citizenship exam
• Register in person at the Information and Registration desk on the first floor of the Bergen Community College Ciarco Learning Center at 355 Main Street in Hackensack, NJ.
• Classes will be scheduled weekdays, during the afternoon, between 1:00 - 4:15 PM.
• Plan to attend all classes.

The ESL and Civics Education Program is sponsored by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Bergen Community College Ciarco Learning Center; therefore, classes are offered at no cost to program participants.
