REFLECTION
(to be handed in with each paper). Length requirement: ¾ to one page. This counts for 10 points.
At the end of
each essay, you are required to write a reflection. This is a final piece of writing in which you
evaluate and comment on your own work.
Reflecting on your writing means that you are looking back on it and
considering how you have improved as a writer so far, and how you will continue
to improve. DO NOT MAKE A LIST. Look over your work and make some
observations; the following questions will guide you in these observations:
- What did you learn about
yourself as a writer?
- What did you find easy or
difficult and why?
- What will the reader learn from
your writing?
- What improvements or
experiments did you make in this paper?

- Who is the audience? Did you reach this audience?
- What parts flowed and which
took more time?
- What suggestions did your peers
make? (Cite examples) Did you follow their suggestions?
- Where did you get your ideas
for this essay?
- With what are you most
satisfied in this essay? (Cite an example)
- What would you most like to
change in this essay? (Cite an example)
- What are the strengths and
weaknesses of the essay?
- What one thing will you do to
improve your next piece of writing?
