Eligibility Requirements and Coverage

In order to be eligible for NJ STARS, there are academic, financial aid and residency requirements which must be met. To be potentially eligible, students must first graduate in the top 15.0% of their high school class at the end of senior year according to the weighted class rank. Students must also demonstrate college readiness for English, Reading and math in order to be academically eligible for NJ STARS.

NJ STARS is not contingent on displaying financial need. However, applications for all Federal and State financial aid must be completed by the appropriated deadlines in order to be eligible for NJ STARS.

Students must be legal New Jersey residents at the time of high school graduation and upon county college enrollment.
