Personal Counselor
Office of Specialized Services
 
The Personal Counselor will provide personal counseling and support to students with disabilities.  Additional responsibilities include the review of disability documentation, provide short-term, confidential counseling, administer and explain academic accommodations, teach problem-solving skills and create and facilitate support groups to students on the autism spectrum.  Will also work with faculty to develop strategies to support student success. 
 
Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or related field and New Jersey license (LCSW or LPC) required; must have two years’ experience working with individuals with disabilities in a secondary or post-secondary setting and the ability to interact with a diverse student population required.  Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills; background and/or training and/or experience working with adolescents/young adults on the autism spectrum required.  Knowledge of state and federal laws and statutes relating to the rights of individuals with disabilities, specifically Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and ADA, is preferred.
