FACULTY SENATE MINUTES

April 22, 2003

 

Dr. George Cronk, Chair of the Senate, called the meeting to order at 2:45 p.m.

 

             I.      REVIEW OF MINUTES:  The March 11, 2003, Faculty Senate Minutes were approved without objection.

 

          II.      CHAIRPERSON’S REPORT:

Dr. Cronk reported that at the April 15 Senate Officers’ Executive meeting with the President, the following items were discussed:

Ø      The Officers’ suggested Tuesday meeting schedule for the academic year of 2003-2004 was reviewed and approved.

Ø      The Board of Trustees has decided that $100,000 would need to be donated through the Foundation in order to change the name of East Hall to Ender Hall.

Ø      President Winn asked for suggestions of who should serve on a committee to research and recommend better scheduling of classes.

Dr. Cronk urged Senators to respond to the Secretary for the Annual Senate Luncheon (invitations distributed), which will be held at Biagio’s at 1:30 p.m. on May 20, 2003.

 

       III.      COMMITTEE REPORTS:  None.

 

        IV.      OLD BUSINESS:  None.

 

           V.      NEW BUSINESS:

 

A.  Dr. Peter Dlugos presented a proposal on BCC Core Competencies.  After much discussion, a motion was made to send this proposal back to the relevant committee for reconsideration, especially regarding the intent; and then on to the Academic Vice President for certification.
