FACULTY SENATE MINUTES

April 20, 2004

 

Dr. George Cronk, Chair of the Senate, called the meeting to order at 3:55 p.m.

 

I.    REVIEW OF MINUTES: The March 23, 2004, Faculty Senate Minutes were approved by a voice vote.

 

II. CHAIRPERSON’S REPORT: At the April 13 meeting of the Senate Officers with Dr. Winn, Executive VP Laughlin, and Academic VP Levinson, the following were discussed:

A.     Calendar

1.       The 2004-2005 Academic Calendar will be sent to all Senators via email and will be considered at the May Senate meeting.

2.       The Spring Faculty General Conference will be held April 27, 2004, at 3:45 p.m. in the Theatre. The Agenda consists of President Winn’s and Dr. Levinson’s remarks; Middle States Institutional Accreditation Update by Dr. Peter Dlugos; and faculty elections of the Good and Welfare Committee; as well as consideration of the Faculty Constitution.

 

III.          COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Dr. George Cronk reported that the Committee on General Education is working on a revision of the process by which courses are added to or subtracted from the General Education Course List. A progress report on that work will be presented to the Senate in 2004FA.

 

IV.           OLD BUSINESS:

SR#72-03/04          Curriculum Modification     AAS.AH.MLT      Medical Laboratory Technology

PASSED: 38 – 0 - 1

 

V.  NEW BUSINESS:

Developmental Mathematics Sequencing - Proposal presented by Professor Sandra Silverberg

        After a lengthy discussion, the question was called:

                        PASSED: 26 – 8 – 0.

        Vote on the proposal:

                        PASSED: 25 – 8 – 2           Please note: this becomes SR-A-2003/2004.
