FACULTY SENATE MINUTES

October 14, 2003

 

Dr. George Cronk, Chair of the Senate, called the meeting to order at 4 p.m.

 

                      I.         REVIEW OF MINUTES:  The May 20, 2003, Faculty Senate Minutes were approved without objection.

 

                   II.         CHAIRPERSON’S REPORT:

A.        Dr. Cronk reported that at the September 30 Senate Officers’ Executive meeting with the President, the following items were discussed:

1.      The proposed new scheduling grid was discussed.  This is to be implemented in Fall 2004.  Both the Administration and the BCCFA are aware that the time blocks are just that.  If classes are to meet less than that block, then it is up to the faculty to end the class appropriately.

2.      The need for a college-wide textbook policy was discussed; this has been a problem from time to time.

B.        Dr. Cronk welcomed to the Senate Professor April Adams from the Arts and Communications Department.  The number of faculty in that department increased enough to have an additional Senator.

 

                III.         COMMITTEE REPORTS:

A.        Good and Welfare:  please contribute to this important fund.

B.        Constitution Committee:  After several years of work, this Committee will present its report at the November 11, 2003, Senate meeting

 

                 IV.         OLD BUSINESS:  None.
