FACULTY SENATE MINUTES
May 21, 2002

Chairperson Dr. George Cronk called the meeting to order at 3:10 p.m. following the Annual Senate Luncheon held at Biagio's, which President graciously furnished.

I. REVIEW OF MINUTES: The Senate approved the April 23, 2002, Faculty Senate minutes.
PASSED: 40-1-1

II. ELECTIONS OF OFFICERS FOR 2002-2003:
A motion was made to nominate and elect the current slate of officers.
PASSED: 39-3-4
New officers are:
Chairperson: Dr. George Cronk
Vice Chairperson: Dr. Judi Davis
Secretary: Professor Marjorie Webster
Treasurer: Professor Peter Helff

III. CHAIRPERSON'S REPORT:
A. The 2002-2003 Tuesday schedule and a current list of Senators were distributed.
B. Chairperson George Cronk commented that when he received his student evaluations from Fall 2001, they were not in an envelope.
C. Dr. Cronk introduced Dr. Peter Dlugos who is the chair of the Learning Outcomes Assessment Task Force. BCC is obligated to submit to Middle States in October 2002 a Plan of Learning Outcomes Assessment. A copy of the plan is attached. Dr. Dlugos stressed that this is a report, not something to be approved or disapproved. Concerns from Senators were: Who would do the assessment? Terms and conditions of employment.

IV. COMMITTEE REPORTS: None.

A motion was made and seconded to put SR# 86, 87, 88-01/02 back on the table.
PASSED: by majority voice vote.

SR#86-01/02 Curriculum Modification Remedial Algebra Requirement for A.A.S. Degrees
PASSED: 26-16-4

SR#87-01/02 Curriculum Modification Remedial Algebra Requirement for Certificate Programs
PASSED: 40-2-4

SR#88-01/02 Curriculum Modification Deletion of Remedial Algebra Requirement
A motion was made to eliminate the Certificates from the current resolution and to deal individually with each of the six proposed A.A.S. degrees listed in the proposal:

A motion was made to consider the third and fourth items in the list first:

This Senate Resolution was on the table when there was a motion to adjourn.
