William Huisking Career History

William Huisking received his B.S. of Chemical Engineering in 1972 from the University of Notre Dame and his MBA in Finance and Marketing from the University of Connecticut in 1977.
His career began as an Environmental and Production Engineer for Glyco Inc. assigned to a Manufacturing facility producing household and cosmetic products, pharmaceutical intermediates, plastic additives and food ingredients.
Key skills required of this position included production planning, inventory control, statistical analysis, and quality assurance. Additional tasks involved in executing this position were labor negotiations, working with government agencies in health, safety, and environmental matters, and sales & customer support.
Eventually becoming Plant Manager, William was responsible for all aspects of the facilities operation in the town in which it operated. During this time, he became active in the community serving on the Board of Directors of the local Water and Sanitary Authorities as well as the local regional hospital.
The next career move involved positions within the Marking and Sales areas. Product research and development, customer visits and negotiations, pricing and product promotion, distribution planning, and profit/loss accountability were all tasks involved in this area of business
In 1985, Lonza Inc. a Swiss based International Chemical firm purchased Glyco Inc. The acquisition lead to a three-year overseas assignment in Switzerland as Director of the division’s activities in Europe. Responsibilities included all aspects of business including manufacturing, technical service, research, human resources, sales, and marketing.
William was then promoted to CEO of the Division relocating back to the United States in New Jersey. He was responsible for all the Division’s activities on a global basis.
During that period, the Division sales were over $350 million dollars with four manufacturing facilities in the United States, and three in Brazil, Germany, and Japan. Employees totaled over 500 located in over fifteen countries.
Lonza, being a conglomerate involved in many worldwide businesses, William’s responsibilities included providing all financial and human resource staff support functions for the other Division’s activities in the United States.
After a thirty-year career at Lonza in the global chemical arena, William retired. He now spends a portion of his time as President of a private Foundation supporting charitable projects throughout the country. In addition, he is a member of the Professional Association of Dive Instructors (PADI) holding a Master Diver Instructor certification. He travels extensively around the world training and exploring new diving regions and aquatic environments.
