During the Fall 2007 semester I am scheduled to teach four online courses in the Business Department, BUS 207 099WB Principles of Business Management, BUS 101 098WB and 099WB Introduction to Business and BUS 103 099WB Business Math. These courses are similar in content to the on campus courses but differ in that all contact with me and with the other students is online. This Fall the Business Department is offering several courses in the hybrid or partially online mode. One of these, which I will be teaching, is BUS 101 003 HY. The course outline for this course can be found by clicking ont eh course title. The partially online course meets only once per week, Tuesdays, from 1:40 to 3:00, in a traditional classroom and the remainder of the course work will be completed online. Partially online classes allow greatly enriched class discussion and allow completing some of the course work in a more flexible time frame. Students who take these courses, however, should not misunderstood how rigorous these courses are. Although we only meet face-to-face for half of the usual course time this does not mean the course is half the work. Just as with any three credit hour course the student should expect to commit approximately nine hours per week to the course both in and out of the classroom. Since we meet less often attendance is critically important. The partially online course also requires that students have a lot more self-discipline and good time management skills. Of course, students in a partially online class must have access to a computer and the Internet on a regular basis and be comfortable using both the Internet and word processing. The course outline for this class is is currently being revised.
I am also teaching an Honors evening section of BUS 101 section 604H, which meets Wednesday night from 6:10 to 9:00. The course outline is available by clicking on the course title. .This class uses the Internet on a regular basis to support and assess student learning and enhance classroom discussions. Students do not need their own Internet access for this course; the college provides ample resources.

I am extremely interested in the sound educational use of instructional technology. I have been heavily involved in Bergen Community College's efforts to enhance and expand student learning by the appropriate use of technology and in assisting faculty to use technology in their teaching and research. I founded BCC's Center for Instructional Technology and, while no longer involved in its day-to-day administration, continue to support it's efforts. I also served as coordinator of the TOPP (The Online Professor Program) training team which provides a structured, formal instructional program to new and experienced online faculty and continue to serve as one of the trainers.
