Library Catalog to find books and/or AV material on your author:

Search by subject  to find books about your author  or

Search by  keyword  (eg. aeschylus and criticism)

Periodical Databases (“Electronic Resources”)

LION Literature Online provides criticism, biographical information on authors, and full text of some literary works, with emphasis on English and American literature.  To get to it, select “Resources by Title” and then “LION” from the list.  The easiest way to find criticism is to go to “Search criticism and reference”.  Type in the author’s name and a keyword for best results.

Of the Frequently Used Resources (general periodical indexes) on this page, Academic Search Premier and Proquest/PA Research II  index the most literary journals.  Use one or two keywords to begin with and if you use keywords that would not be next to each other, use “and” between them, eg. Genesis and creation.

Using Gale The Gale Literary Index is a free online source that provides access to excerpts of criticism from many sources collected in several series of reference books owned by the Sidney Silverman Library (not available online).  Criticism of most of the earliest works  for this course (except Inanna)  will be in the series Classical and Medieval Literature Criticism,  call number  Ref. PN 610 .C53.
