The courses listed below are available in spring 2012. Click on each link for details. In general, my courses are a mix of lecture and discussion. I assign quizzes in addition to the essays and or exams, and a power point presentation at least once a semester. All students are required to send their

 LIT 203 World Literature till 1650 is an enjoyable survey of the most famous texts from Mesopotamia, ancient Greece, Rome, India, China, Japan, European Middle Ages and the Renaissance. General Education Course.

 

LIT 228 Women in Literature is a survey of literature by women from diverse cultures, newly revised to include new authors such as Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, for example. This is an ever popular and enjoyable course. :=)

 

PHR 122 Women in Religion This course analyzes the relationship of women to the major religious traditions of the world, including Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and others. The course examines such issues as religious statements about the nature of women, religious codes of behavior for women, and the extent and nature of women's religious participation within the various traditions. WRT 201 Writing 201 is a continuation of writing 101 in many ways: it includes writing expository and argumentative essays, involving critical thinking skills, but the reading and writing concerns literature only. This section is taught as an introduction to prose, poetry and drama. Don’t be surprised if I ask you to memorize a text. :=) General Education Course
