Course Description: Argumentation and Debate is a course in the methods of effective argumentation, persuasion, and educational debate, with emphasis on rational decision-making. This course is designed for students who want preparation for participation in a democratic society. This course provides the student with practical application of rules of logical and reasoning necessary to produce sound communication skills and to implement course objective

 

 

Course Objectives:

 

  1. To know how to recognize and analyze propositions
  2. To learn refutation and rebuttal
  3. To develop expertise in debate research
  4. To relate course work to life and school situations

 

 

 

Evaluation: Your grade will be based on the criteria below:

10% = Persuasive Speech

10% = Debate Participation

10% = Attendance

20% = Debate Paper

20% = Midterm

30% = Final Debate
