- Inman is a Confederate soldier
that receives a neck wound from a battle and is forced to go to the
hospital. After he goes to the hospital he stays there for a few
weeks/months. Then on one night he climbs out the window and starts on
his journey back home. Inman on the way meets many people, and many of
those people help him. Inman must dodge home guard soldiers and other
enemies you would never have thought would be enemies. Inman is a very
brave and caring man. He also helps some people on his way back.
