TUTORING OPTIONS AT BCC

Students at Bergen Community College now have two options for tutoring assistance.

BCC Tutoring Center in room C-115 is for in-person tutoring, which is available to all BCC  students.

Obtain Online Tutoring BCC has contracted with SMARTHINKINGto offer 24/7online tutoring.  This  service is available to all registered BCC students on a first come, first serve  basis. To apply for a SMARTHINKING account, submit an application  at

WHAT IS SMARTHINKING?

 

SMARTHINKING provides web-based tutoring. This service supplements the Learning Center’s existing academic support services by  offering:

Real-time online tutoring with e-instructors and homework help for core courses and skills 24/7.

Live tutorials in writing for most subjects including  accounting, chemistry, economics, grammar, math, Spanish, statistics, and  writing.

Study resources, writing manuals, sample problems, research tools, and study skills.

SMARTHINKING’s e-instructors are experienced, credentialed, trained and ready to help YOU as soon as you sign-up and get a username and password (assigned through the Tutoring Center).

Once you have your username and password you can access SMARTHINKING from any computer 24/7.

 

SMARTHINKING is not an answering or proofreading/editing service

HOW TO REGISTER FOR & USE ONLINE TUTORING

 

Any registered student at Bergen Community College taking courses online or on campus that correspond with the courses offered through SMARTHINKING is eligible to receive this service. (Students who are taking online courses at  Bergen  Community College through  the New Jersey Virtual Community College Consortium (NJVCCC), but who are registered with one of the 18 other  community  colleges in New Jersey, need to obtain  tutoring services from their home college (10 other NJ community colleges are now offering Smarthinking’s services.)

This service is open to  all registered students at Bergen Community College, but not all students are guaranteed an account. Assignments of SMARTHINKING accounts  are done on a first come first serve basis.

Students will need to  register with Khairia Fazal in the Tutoring Center (C115) prior to using online services each semester.

You must complete an application form available through the Tutoring Center website (http://www.bergen.cc.nj.us/library/learning/tutor/smart/index.asp). Once your application is  reviewed you will be  assigned a user name and password that you may use when signing onto to SMARTHINKING.

Once you receive your  username and password for SMARTHINKING from the Tutoring Center, go to www.smarthinking.com to sign on with your assigned username  and password. After you sign on, you will be introduced to your SMARTHINKING personal homepage.
