What do I do if I am absent?

On the first day or two, you need to get the phone numbers of two colleagues.  This way, you will always have someone to call to get your assignments and course announcements such as the dates of upcoming tests.

If you are absent, keep up to date with the homework and make sure you are on the same page as your classmates when you return.

If you missed a test or quiz,  be ready to take the make-up test the first day you are back.

What is your policy on absences?

If you keep up to date on assignments, make up all tests and quizzes the day you arrive back in class, and get classroom notes from a colleague, you may miss three classes without penalty.  Unless you have a doctor's note, your grade will be lowered if you miss more than three classes.

What is your policy on lateness?

I won't keep you out, but it is very disruptive to come to class late and you may miss important information.  Usually, I give future test and assignment dates early in the class.  If you MUST come in late once in a while, please do so quietly and make sure you ask a colleague for any class announcements.

What do I do if I get a grade I don't like?

First, you should see me during one of my office hours.  Then you should plan to get extra help and practice in the English Language Resource Center in E-126.
