Note that instructions provided on the course outline distributed the first day of class supercede this information. Visit the Classes link if you need another copy of your course outline.
Q:
What should I do if I need to miss a class?A: If you know you will be missing a class, speak with me prior to the missed
class. I will provide you with any handouts that will be distributed. You should also make arrangements to get class notes from another student. Review the class
notes and then see me during my Office Hours for clarification. Turn in any assignments that are due the date of the missed class BEFORE the class meets. Assignments can be placed under my office
door (S330), brought to my "paper" mailbox in the Business Office (A306), or sent electronically via e-mail to
averno@bergen.edu. Extensions on assignments and postponement of quizzes and exams are not available except in extenuating circumstances. Q: I am having difficulty understanding the material. What should I do? A:
Visit me during my Office Hours. They are posted on this website and on the door to my office (S330). BCC also provides services to students in need of extra assistance via the Tutoring Center. Q:
What can I do to insure a good grade?A: To insure a good grade in class you need to attend class regularly and take careful and complete
notes. If I take class time to discuss a topic or I write something on the board, it is important! Study the notes after each class session. You may wish to review the notes with another classmate to
insure that you did not miss anything. Do all the assignments and submit them on or before the due date for full credit. You are expected to understand the material the assignment covers when the
work is due. See me during Office Hours for help if you are having difficulty. If you need additional time (beyond Office Hours), make an appointment to meet me at a mutually convenient time. Q: I am unable to complete the assignment by the due date. Can I get an extension?A:
Extensions on assignments are rare as our course material builds upon itself. Each assignment prepares you for the next, more difficult assignment. If you have an emergency situation, see me or
e-mail me before the assignment is due to discuss an extension. If an extension is granted, follow-up our discussion with a reminder e-mail. Extensions requested on an assignment due date or
after an assignment is due will not be considered. Q: I do not have a computer and/or the necessary software at home. How can I complete my assignments?
A: BCC has several free-time Labs available for student use. Check the schedule on the door to the Labs. Be sure to bring your assignment as well as your disk. |
